JAPANESE TATTOO VISUAL DATA ACQUISITION

Authentic “Wabori” Process.
Own the Raw Data.

Access the inaccessible. Acquire high-fidelity raw references of traditional Japanese tattooing.

The texture of the ink, the tension of the skin, and the precise movement of the needles.
We do not deliver “finished, heavily edited photos.” We serve as your exclusive bridge to Japan’s underground masters.
We provide High-Purity Digital Raw Materials of the traditional “Wabori” process—unfiltered assets your media team can color-grade, zoom, and utilize as a foundation for editorial features, AI training, or high-end documentary content.

Exclusive Access Program

100% RAW + SOOC JPEG & Perpetual Commercial License Included

No recurring licensing fees per medium. Once acquired, the digital assets are yours to control forever.

The Location: Tamano City, Okayama

The Gateway to Naoshima. Home to Hidden Masters.

Located in Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture—widely known as the gateway to the world-renowned “Island of Art,” Naoshima—reside some of Japan’s most meticulous and exceptional “Wabori” (Traditional Japanese Tattoo) masters.

Due to the deeply private nature of this culture, their names and studio locations must remain strictly confidential. Accessing these craftsmen is notoriously difficult for overseas tattoo media and foreign journalists.

Through our established local trust and strict confidentiality agreements, we guarantee the acquisition of premium RAW and SOOC data of their authentic processes. We provide the highest quality visual evidence of their craftsmanship, directly from the source.

Deliverables & Asset Integrity

Why our data stands up to rigorous editorial standards. We capture the intricate micro-details of the tattoo process in challenging, low-light studio environments.

Primary: Nikon Z8

Macro Detail & Cropping

With 45.7 megapixels, capture the exact moment ink penetrates the skin. The extreme resolution allows your editors to crop tightly onto the needle configuration or shading gradients without losing any sharpness.

Secondary: Nikon Z6Ⅱ

Low-Light Fidelity

Authentic tattoo studios are rarely perfectly lit for photography. Our back-illuminated sensors guarantee clean, noise-free shadow data, ensuring the authentic atmosphere of the session is preserved for your colorists.

Acquisition Phases: The Authentic Workflow

To supply global media and creators with the ultimate Tattoo artist resources, we systematically document the session through distinct technical phases.

Phase 1: Sujibori

Structural Linework

We capture the extreme tension of the skin and precise needle depth. These high-resolution files serve as an uncompromising Wabori reference for studying traditional layouts and motifs.

Phase 2: Bokashi

The Tebori Process

When the master transitions to traditional hand-poking, we freeze the rhythmic motion. We acquire unedited data of the Tebori process, documenting the exact angle and pressure of the tools.

Phase 3: Micro-Texture

Extreme Macro

Utilizing our 45.7MP sensor, we execute precise Japanese traditional tattoo macro photography. This reveals ink pooling, skin reactions, and micro-gradients that standard cameras miss.

Phase 4: Environment

The Master’s Tools

We document the preparation of the traditional Sumi ink and the atmosphere of the hidden studio. These contextual assets complete the package, ensuring you have every element needed for high-end production.

Data Formats & Licensing

Optimized for specialized media workflows, we deliver two complete formats simultaneously.

100% Unprocessed RAW (.NEF)

Pure sensor data. Total control over skin tones, ink saturation, and contrast with zero artificial sharpening or color clipping.

SOOC JPEGs (Straight-Out-Of-Camera)

Crystal-clear, ready-to-publish files. Perfect for rapid editorial drafting, social media teasers, or immediate reference materials.

【Perpetual Commercial License / Royalty-Free】

Upon final delivery, you receive a perpetual, worldwide, unrestricted commercial license for the acquired media.

Quality Proof: Technical Mastery Beyond NDA

As industry professionals, you understand that true exclusive access comes with strict Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA). We cannot—and will not—publish our clients’ highly confidential “Wabori” sessions as public marketing material.

Let’s be blunt: If we were to casually showcase actual Wabori session samples here, it would directly compromise the exclusivity and commercial value of the very assets you are paying to acquire. You understand exactly what that means, don’t you?

However, technical proof is essential. To demonstrate our capability in handling challenging, low-light, and dynamic environments (which perfectly mirror the conditions of a dimly lit tattoo studio), we invite you to review our established portfolios in Live Event Photography, Architectural Shoots, and RAW Post-Processing. The same hardware mastery required to capture unrepeatable moments under harsh concert lighting is applied to capturing the micro-details of a needle.

Geographically, the route from Obata (Moriyama, Nagoya) to Uno Station (Okayama)—including the Meitetsu Seto Line, Shinkansen, and local train connections—actually takes about 2.5 to 3 hours one way (5 to 6 hours round trip). However, as a professional courtesy, this fee has been conservatively calculated based on a flat 4-hour round trip.

FAQ

Can you reveal the name of the master before booking?
No. To protect the highly private nature of these traditional artists, specific names and studio locations are only disclosed after you approve the initial custom quote and sign an NDA. You do not need to pay any deposit just to request a quote or check availability.
What payment methods are accepted, and what is the billing currency?
We accept major credit cards securely processed via Square, as well as PayPal upon request. Please note that our Square account is based in Japan; therefore, all invoices are issued and processed in Japanese Yen (JPY), calculated at the exact exchange rate on the day of billing.
Can I request specific shots, angles, or macro details?
Yes, broad requests (e.g., “focus heavily on macro details” or “capture specific wide angles”) are welcome in advance. However, we cannot accommodate overly detailed or rigid shot lists. Our base pricing is kept accessible precisely because we maintain creative and operational freedom during the session. Highly directed commercial shoots will require a separate, premium technical fee.
Will faces be included, and do you provide a Model Release?
Our primary focus is capturing the process itself. However, if the final deliverables include identifiable faces or elements that can identify the master, we can provide a Japanese-standard model release upon prior consultation. Facial inclusion and legal releases are strictly negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Why is there a separate “Gratuity” fee?
In Japanese traditional arts, respect and protocol are paramount. The gratuity compensates the master for allowing a camera into their sacred workspace. We handle this negotiation and payment on your behalf.
